Softball has been around since a man named George Hancock first invented the game in Chicago in 1887. It took more than 100 years, but women became fast pitch Softball Olympic event in 1996.
Fast pitch is different from looping, relaxed pitch often used Recreational Softball League. Fast pitch players must hit a ball traveling about 70mph. It is softer than baseball, but certainly much faster than the meandering slow pitch game.
